.NET News On Your Desktop

.NET News On Your Desktop is a project developed by Blocks4.NET
in order to notify .NET users / developers community about latest .NET components news. News are received from Blocks4.NET web site and displayed to your desktop by using a Channel Definition File and the Windows Active Desktop feature included in Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP and 2003.
This is an essential tool for software developers that use custom controls, software components, code generators, and other productivity tools.

How to install it
|
The easiest way to install the .NET News On Your Desktop is to run the setup file and read the
instructions presented on this page.
At the end of the setup an active desktop control (see the picture below) will be shown on your desktop
(IF THIS INFORMATION WAS NOT SHOWN PLEASE READ THE TROUBLESHOTING SECTION):

How to enable / disable it
|
The active desktop feature can be customized (add / remove / enable / disable items).
In order to access this feature press right click on the desktop and select Properties option.
Select Desktop Tab and use the Customize Desktop button.
Select Web tab.
By checking / un-checking the .NET News On Your Desktop you will Enable / Disable the news from your desktop.

How to uninstall it
|
There
are 3 ways to uninstall our product:
- Use the Start button, select All Programs, select .Net
News on your Desktop and run Uninstall dot Net News on your Desktop.
- By running the unins000.exe located in C:\Program Files\dotNetNewsOnYourDesktop
folder.
- By selecting the .NET News On Your Desktop you should
use the Delete button.
The confirmation dialog will be shown:
Based on your confirmation the application will be removed from your desktop.

Troubleshooting
|
If at the end of the setup you do not see this screen:
You have to manually add the .NET News On Your Desktop using this procedure:
Right click on the desktop and select Properties option. Select Desktop Tab and use the Customize Desktop button.
Select Web tab.
Select New button.
And you have to browse for the cdf file provided by us – which is located into the
C:\Program Files\dotNetNewsOnYourDesktop folder and is named activedesktop.cdf
Press Open button after selecting the activedesktop.cdf file.
Press OK in order to install the active desktop item. And you will get this dialog.
