Detailed Description
|
MaxVirtual.Data is a compact yet powerful class library enabling database independent .net development. The information of data sources used in the application is stored in the XML configuration file. This extends the library to use all the possible .net providers.
MaxVirtual Universal Query Anaylzer demonstrates the power and versatality of this component. It is an all-in-one tool to query Sql Server, Oracle, Sybase, DB/2, Postgres, MySql, MS-Access, Firebird, SQLLite and other databases.
The use of the library is exactly similar to the encapsulated ADO.net providers. In fact, the IBuySpy Portal / Community / Reporting applications were ported to MaxVirtual.Data mostly by search & replace.
The oracle ref cursors are transparently handled. So you maintain one code base for Oracle, Sql Server, Sybase, Postgres, etc.
The sample portal application demonstrates the power and simplicity of the library. In this application the database can be switched from Oracle to Sql Server just by changing the DataSource in the XML configuration file. Switching the portal engine and/or one or more modules to Postgres, Sybase, etc. is equally easy and requires no change in the code base.
The MaxCollab Tutorials are some examples demonstrating the use of the library and converting the data provider specific code to use MaxVirtual.Data library for database independence. The examples are Business Layer classes of the IBuySpy Portal converted using MaxVirtual.Data library
The download include sample console applications (see ADO.net Tutorials ) available in VB.net, C#, JScript, J# & C++.net. Do try to change the DataSource & data providers by modifying the XML configuration file.
